Buffy Lawson | Pensacola Beach Songwriter's Festival 2011

Buffy Lawson (and yes, Buffy is her given name) was born in Lexington, Kentucky and moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music when she was 20 years old. Being a self-proclaimed “dreadful” waitress, she welcomed any success possible in the music industry to help sustain her journey.

As with many new artists, she offered her vocals without charge as a demo singer to other up-and-coming songwriters for the first several years that she spent learning her craft. She credits those years of paying her dues as having been the most valuable time spent, as it allowed her to develop her own unique sound. She was a staff songwriter for PolyGram, EMI, Midas and Terra Nova Music.

Buffy was signed to Curb Records as the lead singer/ songwriter of the all-female group BOMSHEL. The group opened for artists such as Miranda Lambert, Dwight Yoakam, Trace Adkins, Montgomery  Gentry, Brad Paisley and Clint Black, just to name a few. She has performed multiple USO/ Stars and Stripes tours, traveling all over Europe, Japan and Korea.

Buffy performed a duet with Neil Diamond on the “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, and also toured extensively with Lorrie Morgan.

Buffy‘s songs have been recorded by Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Kenny Rogers, Bo Bice, Lorrie Morgan and Linda Davis.

The award-winning magazine Tops in Lex features Buffy writing  her own column that offers up her humoristic take on life.  The column is appropriately called “In the Buf.”

Buffy is currently working on a novel based on her song, “I’m Leaving You For Me” and working on a new album in the studio.
