Playing guitar since age 9, Rick grew up playing and singing in entertainment venues in Ft Walton Beach, Destin, Pensacola and Panama City. First gig at 14, the USO Ft Walton Beach. At sixteen he went to Muscle Shoals at the invite of a studio employee at Fame Studios to demo tunes to Fame Producer Barry Beckett and Roger Hawkins and at a Fame Studios Saturday Bar-b-Q, got the chance to meet and talk and become inspired by a songwriter named Mac McAnally. Rck remembers “Think we hit it off because our last names sounded similar! Rick says I really didn’t know the legends I was introduced to back then, but I came to know soon after that I was in the presence of some very talented and well known music industry heavy weights .By age 22 Rick was in bands doing original music he had written and played as an opening act for groups like Louisiana’s LaRoux, Molly Hachette, Stillwater, Blackfoot, Head East and Black Oak Arkansas. Rick has spent the next 30 years writing and performing along the Gulf Coast. His plans are to continue recording, shopping demos, promoting his material and having fun just creating music, playing with friends and enjoying every minute of it. Rick remains positive about his music and says “whether or not I get a “hit” record, getting the opportunity to live and grow up in this part of Florida that I love, I’ve already made it! It really doesn’t get much better than living this dream, this way” on the Beaches of course! Yes I’ve had my toes in the sand here, for a long time now.”
