Joe Allen is a legendary bass player and songwriter born in Waco, TX. In the seventies and eighties, Joe was always in the music charts with number 1’s and top tens. When Joe arrived in Nashville, his unique jazz-inspired bass style set him apart as one of the most in-demand session players in town. Joe wrote for, recorded with, and played for Crystal Gale, Don Williams, Gene Watson, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Loreta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, Neil Young, Charley Pride, Ray Price, Andy Williams, Julie Andrews and countless others. After a long break, Joe continues to perform at festivals and listening rooms across the country and his new songs are, once again, in the charts. Joe is currently collaborating with Dan Auerbach and artists that he is producing. As of this writing, Joe has two of his songs on an album by Yola that is number 4 on the Americana charts. Yola has also been nominated for Americana album of the year, competing alongside Joe’s good friend, John Prine. How fun is that? Joe also has songs coming out by John Anderson and Gene Watson.
